His cleaver, fear norhing, since of humor, picked me up EVERY time we crossed paths in a day. He was there for me too, through some rough times. He always left me laughing & smiling, man I will miss him. Was hoping this we be the summer we finally got to fish together. I will be eternally greatful for how he looked after my son and tought him so many life lessons and about being a good & honorable man...sure, history & football...but, mostly setting an excellent example for my child & so many others. I will miss him every day.

I wish I could've shared this letter I wrote with everyone earlier today at Chuck's memorial. I had the honor of reading it to his sister afterwards. I want everyone to read this tribute to him and always remember him. There are no words to express how much of a void you have left to a lot of people. You genuinely cared for your students and your student athletes. My classmates and I were your first students when you started your career teaching at Alice Johnson all the way back in 2003. My first memory of you was my 8th grade year walking into your 5th period history class and being intimidated by this large former Army soilder who little did I know then would become the greatest teacher I ever had. You inspired my love for history throughout my school years and you are responsible for teaching me the game of football. We would talk about sports during our free time in class and would tell us how your favorite football player was Kurt Warner. The former Super Bowl And NFL MVP went to the same university, Northern Iowa as you. He was your favorite because he came from humble beginnings as well. He went from bagging groceries at a supermarket to playing in the superbowl. He reminded you that "Hard work pays off". One of your favorite quotes and one that you engraved in every person you crossed paths with. I remember your jokes, I remember your laugh. I remember how one day at practice you told some of us football players how you had a crush on one of our classmates Mom, you thought she was very pretty. We promised you we would never tell her know and I intend to keep that promise to this date. So please, nobody ask. I'll never tell. The school year went on and you taught us about life. You were tough and firm on your students and even tougher to your student athletes. You demanded respect but you also knew how to give it. You were a crutch to a lot of us when we needed one. You understood our problems and we are forever thankful for listening. Throughout that year We walked into your classroom as kids and you prepared us to become men. We left Alice Johnsom Jr High to Channelview HS. You attended your first graduation for your very first students and your presence put a smile on all our faces. you inspired some of us to follow your footsteps as a solider, some of us as teachers. I remember catching up with you a few years later after you were coming from scouting a game for the HS football team at a wing restaurant and we sat and caught up on life. You were so proud of winning Teacher of the year for CVISD and once again you reminded me that hard work pays off. You shared how your team won a district championship. That night we went our separate ways and kept in contact with each other every few months. This past Monday morning I received news of your passing and I was instantly hit by sorrow. Today we are here to celebrate your life. Coach, you impacted our lives more than you will ever know. I'm sure I can speak for many that we will never forget you. Thank you for showing us respect and leading us on our journey to become men. Rest In Peace to my Coach, Rest In Peace to a Legend, and most importantly Rest In Peace to my mentor and Friend Chuck Browne.

Chuck was a wonderful Teacher, great Coach and a good friend! He gave his all to his students in the classroom and on the field and in return he expected them to give their all back to him! I remember when he first came to AJJH. He was a very nice looking young man, very polite, good manners, kind hearted and sweet. I questioned him one day about his goals in life, was he single or married , was he seeing anyone , what religion was he, etc. as I thought he might be a good prospect for my daughter! WELL! he thought this older woman "Me" was hitting on him. Lol We laughed about that for years and no he never hooked up with my daughter but he taught her daughter, my granddaughter Social Studies last year. She always said Mr. Browne makes learning fun! She thought the world of him. He truly will be missed by all who came in contact with him!

its the fact he was my go-to guy on everything, advice, he offered to take me to lunch every day when i was in middle school, he coached me in football and tought me everything i know about working hard for what i want.. and to always achieve what, even my own mind says i cant. i dont have his shoulder to lean on anymore and it hurts alot. when i was nothing, and just decided that i might join the millitary i went to him he was the first person i would ask for advice on anything, i would stop by on the way home from MMA not even a month ago just to talk to him.. get advice.. so on.. when my dad and mom almost died i was in middle school in his class and such.. and he went above and beyond to help me through it, and helped make sure i became who i am today... my heart is still broken.. im hurting alot, but in time things will be alright. he was going to be the first person i went to see after i get out of basic... and i guess he still will be.. just not how i pictured it.

Coach Brown coached two of my boys and was one of the kindest, funniest people I know! He took time to listen when there were issues with the kids and mentored them with great advice. He also had them in class and was a great teacher! He was a great coworker too! Always there with a laugh or a joke. He will be greatly missed!

Chuck truly loved his students. He cared more for them, than they can ever know. Chuck deserves love and respect, because he gave 100% at everything that he did, and he went the extra mile for everyone that he thought that he could help. I really miss him, because he was a wonderful friend. Chuck was good at everything that he did. And besides, he was so funny, positive, and upbeat, that you just couldn't help but like him. What a great guy!
