Robert R. Garcia left this world on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Survived by the loves of his life, his wife, Irene Piña Garcia, their daughter Alyssa Mendoza (Mark) and grandsons Mark Matthew Mendoza and Andrew “AJ” James Mendoza.
Preceded in death by his parents Dan and Socorro Rizo Garcia is also survived by his sisters Hortencia Garcia Lambert and Molly Valdez, his brothers Dan, Tony (Lily) and Roger Garcia.
Robert is also survived by his in-laws, numerous cousins, Godchildren, nieces and nephews.
Robert served our country in the US Army. He retired from Consolidated Freightways as a Truck Driver and member of Teamsters Local #988. His next job would lead him to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
Services will be held at Blackwell and Vazquez Woodforest Funeral Home, 750 Uvalde Road, Houston, Texas 77015.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 5 p.m. followed by a memorial service.
A celebration of life mass will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Blackwell and Vazquez Woodforest Funeral Home followed by interment at Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of usual remembrances please make donations to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 2403 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77021 or to any Veteran’s organization in his name.
