Lawrence Michael Williams of Houston, Texas was born July 1, 1944 in Evergreen Park, Illinois to Earle Otto Williams and Irene Mary Gleason Williams passed from this life on Sunday, February 28, 2016. Larry graduated from Calumet High School in Chicago, Illinois in 1962. He was drafted into the Army at age 21 and proudly served for 21 months. He went to basic training in Fort Knox, KY and AIT in Fort Gordon, GA. He spent 15 months serving in Korea. His MOS in the Army as 72B which is an Army Communications Center Specialist. He obtained secret clearance. He lived in… Chicago, Illinois; Fort Knox, KY; Fort Gordon, GA; Korea (Pusan); Burnham, Illinois; Blue Island, Illinois; Houston, Texas. He worked as a System Administrator at Gay Buick GMC in Dickinson, Texas for 18 years. He Retired May 31, 2013.
Larry was an active parishioner at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Pasadena, Texas where he attended mass daily. He was also a Eucharistic minister, lector, acolyte, member of the choir, and particularly close with many members of the Pilipino community within St. Pius V.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother, Earle Edward Williams. Larry is survived by three nieces Leah (Mike) Gardner and great nephew Tommy Gardner, Alice (Joe) Ellenburg great nephews Baron Phillips and Will Ellenburg, great niece Josie Ellenburg; Becky (Charles) Crawford great nephew Caleb and great niece Abby. Larry is also survived by countless close friends as well as companions Heron Bernal, Sr. and Bernard “Boo” Christophe as well as a host of other treasured friends. Larry made friends everywhere he went. He loved his mom, his church family, minions, and giraffes.
Service arrangements for Larry are visitation Sunday March 6, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm including vigil and rosary beginning at 7:00pm at Blackwell & Vazquez Woodforest Funeral Home at 750 Uvalde Rd Houston, TX. Funeral mass at 10:00 am on Monday, March 7, 2016 at St. Pius V Catholic Church 824 Main Street in Pasadena, TX followed by burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery 8701 Almeda Genoa Rd. Houston, TX.
